The episode features James Dooley and Karl Hudson discussing how power posts reshape online reputation management. James Dooley explains that most guest posts fail because they lack page strength, behavioural signals and topical authority, which causes poor rankings. Karl Hudson outlines how power posts solve this by using optimised content, NLP entities, relevant placements, tier 2 backlinks and social engagement. James Dooley highlights how power posts control brand narratives, suppress negative press and strengthen knowledge panels because entity signals improve. Brands also use power posts to reduce affiliate losses because controlled narratives convert better. AI systems repeat online sentiment, so power posts influence future AI-generated content because they shape the data foundation.
James Dooley: Power posts can play a vital role nowadays in online reputation management. They are not strategically written to rank high and therefore these guest posts are not really built to rank. Majority of people end up going buying guest posts. You don't need guest posts. You need power posts. It should help us rank quicker in 2025. Are you going to be showing up or are your products going to be showing up. If not you better start now. Karl Hudson: Hi guys Karl here from Sechu. I'm joined with my business partner James and in today's video we're going to chat about online reputation management but specifically how power posts can play a vital role nowadays in online reputation management. James you get approached nearly daily from big online reputation management companies and a lot of them are looking to spend big numbers on guest posts. We know you often push back and explain why guest posts are not the right approach. Do you want to explain your thinking. James Dooley: The amount of people that come to me wanting to buy 30, 40, 50 or even 60 guest posts to rank for specific keywords and suppress a negative article or review is insane. What they're not realising is that these guest posts are not strategically written to rank high. They have no page level power. They have no tier 2 backlinks. They have very few social shares or behavioural signals. They are not built to rank. People buy them because they get a do follow link and obsess over DR but the truth is the link is placed on a page not a domain. Page power ranks not domain power. For online reputation management they want third party placements to rank for specific terms. This is the difference. You don't need guest posts. You need power posts. James Dooley: Karl can you explain to people in more depth what a power post is. Karl Hudson: The concept came from us being fed up of people using weak guest posts that never ranked. A power post is essentially a guest post on steroids. We develop an entire article around the keyword. It contains all the NLP entities. It is as long as it needs to be to rank. We research what is already ranking and get placement on those websites because they already have authority or topical relevance. This helps us rank faster and helps the webmaster because the content is relevant for their site. We bring more visitors and improve their website too. James Dooley: The big part is it's not just NLP content. We hit it with tier 2 backlinks. These are link inserts or niche edits placed into existing articles with behavioural signals. This pushes link equity into the new article. Then we share it across social media to get engagement signals which Google now depends on. The Google leak mentioned navboost and click data. Behavioural signals matter. If I get social shares, engagement and tier 2 backlinks on the article it becomes a power post. This is not parasite SEO. We are not harming the webmaster. Most webmasters ask us to write more because these become their strongest pages. James Dooley: Power posts are used to suppress negative articles but also for proactive online reputation management. Search your brand name with review. Search your brand name with testimonials. Search your brand name with scam. Make sure nothing negative appears. If you want positive branding you need power posts to control the narrative. James Dooley: Karl can you expand on why many brands now come to us to rank for affiliate based keywords. Karl Hudson: With affiliate keywords brands often lose commission to affiliates ranking for their product review terms. Brands are paying out huge commissions when they could instead create power posts and control their narrative. A power post costs far less than years of affiliate payouts. That's why brands are now asking us to take control of their product review keywords. James Dooley: A good example is Shark versus Dyson. If Shark has a model close to a Dyson model they can rank for Dyson model versus Shark model and control the comparison. You can brand jack competitor terms and lead people to your product. Affiliates do it well but if an affiliate gets switched off they might change your five star review to a one star review. Then your brand search profile turns negative. You must fix that with power posts and control the results across Google, Bing and YouTube. Karl Hudson: And now with AI pulling data from online sources power posts influence the narrative even more. If you fill the web with positive power posts AI content will repeat the same positive message. James Dooley: This also ties into knowledge panel optimisation. Google is moving more toward entity based ranking. Knowledge panels matter. If you are an entrepreneur or consultant your knowledge panel should appear for relevant terms. Power posts mentioning you alongside competitors strengthen that. It feeds the AI algorithm too. If people use AI to write content next year you want it pulling positive sentiment from power posts. James Dooley: If you're looking to get power posts done head over to searcher.com. Hit us up. If you're not sure what keywords to target leave a message or comment.
