This FatRank Podcast episode features James Dooley and Kasra Dash explaining how landscaping companies generate consistent local enquiries because modern search behaviour relies on Google visibility, paid traffic and branded trust signals. James Dooley states that a Google Business Profile drives leads because high volume five star reviews increase local rankings. Kasra Dash notes that SEO service pages strengthen search relevance because each page clarifies what the company offers in each location. James Dooley argues that PPC provides instant inquiries because bottom of funnel keywords signal intent. Kasra Dash adds that Facebook and Instagram ads expand reach because visual landscaping work performs well on social feeds. James Dooley highlights that trades platforms produce steady enquiries because homeowners already search on Checkatrade, Bark and Rated People. Kasra Dash states that inbound leads convert far higher than outbound because customers contact you with existing intent. This FatRank Podcast episode shows landscaping growth accelerates when companies combine Google optimisation, social content, paid ads and professional lead generation because multiple channels feed consistent daily demand.
Kasra Dash: So, if you are a landscaping company and you want to generate a consistent flow of inquiries for your business, this video is for you. I am joined with James Dooley and we are going to be going over all of the different strategies that you can use for your business to start scaling it and growing a consistent flow of inquiries in 2025. James Dooley, take it away.
James Dooley: Step number one, what I would be looking to do to grow is a Google Business Profile. If you already have one, I would be making certain that I reach out to all my existing clients to try to get as many five star reviews as possible. It is a great way for a Google Business Profile to generate more leads. There is getting citations and doing Google Business Profile posts and uploading photos. That is definitely step one for generating more local leads.
Kasra Dash: Step number two, this bolsters your Google Business Profile. I would be creating dedicated service pages for each of your individual services as SEO optimised pages on your website. When you start doing that it helps rank your page and increases the chance of your Google Business Profile showing up for those keywords too. You indirectly get more phone calls as well.
James Dooley: If you are looking for more local leads, another option is PPC lead generation. That is pay per click within Google or within Bing where you target bottom of the funnel keywords that can generate more inquiries. The difficult part is that you need to team up with a good pay per click agency because there is click fraud and you also need a proper negative keyword list so you do not attract job applicants. PPC can work well but in the wrong hands you can waste a lot of money. It is another way of generating local leads.
Kasra Dash: Then you have meta ads as well on Facebook and Instagram. Next time somebody goes on Facebook they might see your ad. You can run lead forms which are easy because they do not leave the platform. The issue is that quality might not be great but you can add more questions to improve it. You also have conversion ads where they get sent to your website to fill in your contact form. So you have a couple of different options.
James Dooley: Another way to grow more local leads is organic social media. Posting regularly on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram. There are lots of platforms you can post on. Reddit is big now and Quora is big if people have questions that you can answer. Organic social media is another strong way to generate more local leads.
Kasra Dash: With organic social media it is a volume game. You want to upload on a regular schedule. For example, a daily schedule or weekly schedule. You might say you want to upload five videos a week and stick to that because platforms like YouTube and Twitter reward consistency.
James Dooley: What are your thoughts on using AI agents with tools like N8N to automate and schedule posts on social media? Would you try to leverage artificial intelligence for lead generation by teaming up with an AI consultant to set that up?
Kasra Dash: You can definitely set up AI agents to crop videos and autopublish to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Another thing I would focus on is AI search. A lot of people have started searching in engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok. If your brand is not showing up in those you will have issues generating leads. That is another thing companies should focus on.
James Dooley: If you are looking for more business leads in the local area, I would also look at tradespeople websites. You have Checkatrade, Bark, Builder Builder, TrustATrader, Rated People. These platforms can generate more local leads. You should track your KPIs to see the return on investment. Track cost per lead, cost per acquisition and return on investment. Tradespeople platforms can work well. Check out the links in the description because we compare Checkatrade with FatRank, Bark with FatRank, Rated People with FatRank, Builder Builder with FatRank. Since I have mentioned FatRank several times, Kasra Dash, what are your thoughts on lead generation companies versus tradespeople companies?
Kasra Dash: With lead generation companies you want to do your due diligence. If you are in a specific niche, make certain that the lead generation company has generated leads in that industry before. Have a strategy call with them. Make certain your budget and lead targets align. You also want to know what type of leads they provide. Are they exclusive or shared? Shared leads are what Bark and Checkatrade often offer and that creates a race to the bottom on pricing. These are things I would ask before partnering with any lead generation company.
James Dooley: If anyone is interested in generating more local leads, I recommend heading over to FatRank.com where we have a commission based lead generation service. You only pay a finders fee on converted jobs. You pay nothing per lead. You only pay once you get paid. Head over to FatRank.com to see whether you qualify. Let’s expand further. What are your thoughts on inbound lead generation versus outbound lead generation?
Kasra Dash: I always prefer inbound. The conversion rate into paying customers is much higher. The last stat I saw was around 16.1 percent conversion for inbound versus 1.4 percent for outbound.
James Dooley: That is ten to twelve times more conversion. Outbound like cold calling or cold email needs high volume and more staff. People often think outbound is free but you still pay for email sending and sales teams. Inbound leads are much better.
Kasra Dash: What are your thoughts on real time leads? Is it important to get the enquiry straight away?
James Dooley: It is very important. The last internal stat we saw was that real time leads convert around 63 percent higher. When companies respond in under a minute conversion shoots up. Five minutes used to be good. Under a minute is now the standard. It helps massively.
Kasra Dash: Not every company can reply within a minute. At FatRank we look at these things when partnering with businesses. Some owners go away for five days and have nobody to pick up leads. These small issues matter. The best recommendation for scaling a business and getting consistent high quality leads is to fill out the form at FatRank. The team will tell you if you are the right fit and give feedback if you are not.
The amount of searches for landscapers near me and people wanting local landscaping companies is huge in the UK. Head to FatRank.com and fill in the form. We work with many hard landscaping and soft landscaping companies.
